Shanty2Chic is having a new giveaway. If you have any projects you've completed on your own that you'd like to show off head on over to their blog. This months giveaway is gorilla glue.
Here are two projects I've made on my own. The first is a dresser that I turned into a armoire/hutch many years ago (probably 10+) for my kitchen. Unfortunately that was before I started blogging so I don't have a before picture. I got the idea from a magazine. The top half had three drawers that I removed. I made two simple doors, stapled chicken wire into the inside, and sewed some curtains. Then I painted everything white and distressed it. I also removed the plain wooden knobs and added some chicken knobs. These were really hard to find and kind of expensive but totally worth it. This has made it through two moves and I still love it.
My second project was to take the frame from a loft bed that I had in college and cover it with paneling to make it look like a small house. I built some stand alone stairs on the side and added a wavy slide. I added plywood to the top and covered it with carpet squares. I also added a picket fence I made to the top so no one can fall off the side. Now my kids have a lot more room in their playroom and they have a cozy loft on top where they can read and watch movies. I would still like to make some curtains for the window of the playhouse to dress it up a little. There is currently a corkboard blocking the window on the right. I'm planning on hanging it from the wall underneath so they have somewhere to hang their artwork.
